What is a Passenger Lift?

Passenger lifts are designed primarily to carry people and also light goods. The 2 most common categories of passenger lifts are hydraulic and traction lifts. They can be installed for public use in residential, commercial or industrial buildings. To serve high traffic and capacity, these lifts are designed with higher speed, durability, reliability and features a range of sizes.

Unifying cutting-edge European/ Japanese engineering technology and local innovations, our FNE passenger lifts are both mechanically and aesthetically pleasing; so choose from our range of products for one that checks off your list of safety, aesthetics, space saving and performance requirements!

Depending on individual building requirements and standards in accordance with relevant authority regulations, our FNE passenger lift series are able to cater to approximately 6 to 10 passengers* (subjected to individual model specifications).

Architectural Flexibility

We have 2 technologies available for our FNE passenger lifts – Motor Room (MR) or Motor Roomless (MR).

What’s a Motor Room (MR)?

It is a separate room from the lift that houses the machinery and electrical controls that operates a lift. Typically located in a public corridor, the motor room should either be fully enclosed or embedded with secured access restrictions.

What’s Motor Roomless (MRL)?

This type of lift/elevator maximizes space utilization in buildings as it does not require a separate motor room on the building’s roof. Since the motors are typically housed in the shaft, it also conserves energy and helps with saving cost.

General Building Restrictions/ Requirements

For Singapore:

  1. For new lifts, a building plan for lift proposal has to be submitted to the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) for approval, prior to commencement of installation.
  2. Passenger lifts, whether hydraulic or traction, have to comply with Singapore Standard SS550:2009 – Code of Practice for Installation, Operation and Maintenance of Electric Passenger and Goods Lifts.
  3. It is mandatory to appoint a BCA registered Lift Contractor/ BCA authorised examiner for lift inspection to obtain a valid Permit to Operate (PTO), which will be subjected to annual renewal.
